Mission

The Oak Mountain Youth Baseball & Softball (OMYBS) program was established in the summer of 1995 to provide children attending Inverness Elementary, Oak Mountain Elementary, Oak Mountain Intermediate and Oak Mountain Middle schools, as well as area private and parochial schools, an opportunity to play baseball and softball together. These schools serve the unincorporated areas of north Shelby County. OMYBS also serves individual families from the surrounding communities including Hoover, Pelham, Homewood, Mt. Laurel and Chelsea.

The goal of OMYBS is to provide a program where kids can learn the fundamentals of baseball and softball, have FUN and learn to compete in a team environment. OMYBS provides both Spring and Fall Baseball and Softball programs, as well as the Challenger program for children with certain disabilities. The program has over 1100 participants on an annual basis.

OMYBS is affiliated with Greater Birmingham Baseball Association and NSA softball. OMYBS is one of the largest all volunteer community baseball and softball programs in the region.
